Editorial policy
How our content is researched, reviewed, compared and maintained β and how we keep those decisions separate from commercial relationships.
Last updated
How content is researched
We start from primary sources: regulator and government consumer publications, statutory disclosure requirements, and the provider's own published terms. Secondary commentary is used for context, never as the basis for a factual claim.
Where a question depends on jurisdiction β a state, province or territory β we say so rather than presenting one market's rule as universal.
How products are reviewed
A product is assessed on its structure and cost: amount range, rate or APR range, term, fees, eligibility, prepayment terms and credit reporting. We record those fields from the provider's own documentation.
A field we cannot confirm is displayed as not confirmed. We do not estimate, interpolate or carry over figures from a similar product.
How comparisons are built
Comparisons use the same fields for every product so that like is compared with like. We normalise amount and term before drawing any conclusion about cost, and we prefer APR or total cost of borrowing over monthly payment.
Ordering may reflect commercial arrangements, and where it does that is disclosed on the page. Ordering never changes the underlying data.
How content is updated
Every page carries a last-reviewed date. Pages are re-checked when provider terms change, when a regulation changes, when a reader reports an issue, and on a routine review cycle regardless.
When we correct a material error we update the page and its review date.
How affiliate relationships are handled
Commercial relationships are disclosed on every page where a paid link could appear. Advertisers do not review our content before publication, cannot request the removal of accurate unfavourable information, and cannot influence how a product's terms are described.
We do not name internal affiliate networks or tracking partners in visitor-facing content, and outbound commercial links are marked as sponsored.
Editorial independence
Editorial and commercial responsibilities are kept separate. If an accurate description of a product is unflattering, the description stands.
Language we refuse to use
We do not publish guaranteed approval, guaranteed loan, instant approval, no credit check, lowest rates guaranteed or approval for everyone. No lender can make those promises before assessing an application, and repeating them would mislead readers about how credit works.
Not financial advice
Our content is general information. It does not consider your circumstances and is not financial, legal, tax or credit advice. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional or a non-profit credit counselling service.
1. Define the product
We describe how a product category is structured and regulated in each country.
2. Collect documentation
We use regulator publications and each provider's own published terms.
3. Structure the comparison
Providers are compared on the same fields so like is compared with like.
4. Review for neutrality
A second reviewer checks accuracy, tone and the absence of unsupported claims.
5. Re-check on change
Pages are revisited when rules change or provider terms are updated.
